MECHANISMS & PROTOTYPES
Custom Mechanisms & Engineering Prototypes
Brosna Automation develops custom mechanisms and engineering prototypes for manufacturers in Westmeath, the Irish Midlands and across Ireland. The work starts from one mechanical question: how a part should move, stop or be presented.
Mechanical concepts and CAD
I work through the concept in CAD, including guides, slides, stops and the parts that have to be fabricated or machined. The model is there to check fit and motion before anything is committed to metal.
Proof-of-principle rigs
Prototype equipment, including a proof-of-principle rig, is for the part of the idea that is still uncertain. Testing stays on that question. The next iteration follows what the test shows.
Motion and changes to existing equipment
A motion mechanism covers the guides and drives for one defined movement. A modification to an existing machine is its own scope: what must move, what stays, and what still has to fit the line. Where the part needs to be held rather than moved, that is custom assembly fixtures.
